Run flat tyres tend to be extremely hard & rigid. With this in mind, whenever you hit unexpected bumps in the road (for example deep pot holes) all the of the force can be felt straight through your wheel, this is due to the run flat tyre having no bounce to it. Sometimes this can cause your alloy wheel to crack. We see this a lot and it is something we can fix. if you would like to know more about this process please see our services page.

Not all wheels are genuine wheels, some are aftermarket wheels which have been fitted to car after it has been purchased from new. Aftermarket wheels can vary vastly in quality, usually on the poorer side of the equation.   The alloy that aftermarket/copy wheels are made from tends to be more fragile & brittle. We see a lot of copy wheels that are cracked for our weld repair service. If an aftermarket wheel comes in thats buckled it is much harder to straighten than a genuine alloy wheel as they can crack during the process.   Another point to highlight is the amount of copy wheels we see on cars that do not have the correct spigot ring in, if at all. This causes the weight of the vehicle to run on the bolts in the hub (a car should always carry its weight directly on the hubs) this can cause a few dangerous issues:   -Stretching the bolts which can cause the wheel to buckle & even disconnected from ths hub while driving.    -The wheel works itsself loose and the bolts can start to bore out the bolt holes of your wheel, completely destroying your alloy.   It is incredibly important to get the right spigot rings for your aftermarket wheels.
